More than 600 emergency medical providers from all around the state are attending the 2012 Vermont EMS conference sponsored by the Health Department, starting Thursday, Oct. 26 and continuing through Sunday afternoon on Oct. 28, at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel and Conference Center.
This is the 23rd year of this conference, the largest gathering of emergency medical providers, squads, fire departments and hospital personnel in the state. Throughout the two and a half days, participants will have hands-on workshops, educational sessions and a trade show expo.
This year’s conference features presentations on:
• EMS response at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO
• STEMI and stroke management systems
• Rural rescue
• Drug abuse and addiction issues
• Crime scene management
• Leadership in EMS
• Preparedness, response and recovery to emergencies, such as the ‘dirty bomb’ scenario of the Oct. 25 radiological exercise organized by the New England Radiological Health Committee.
