Challenges, a one-hour segment from the HBO documentary, The Weight of the Nation, will be screened the evening of Thursday, Nov. 1 at South Burlington High School (550 Dorset Street). Challenges explores the driving forces behind America’s obesity epidemic.
The event is free and open to the public. Starting with complimentary fresh, local fare at 5:30 p.m., the screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring local community experts and hosted by Mitch Wertleib.
Bringing together the nation’s leading research and healthcare organizations, The Weight of the Nation was developed in partnership with the Institute of Medicine, in association with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the National Institutes of Health – and in partnership with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and Kaiser Permanente.
The local screening is hosted by the South Burlington School District and sponsored by the Vermont Department of Health, BlueCross BlueShield of Vermont, Fletcher Allen Health Care, Common Roots and the Greater Burlington YMCA, with support fom Local Motion, Vermont Public Health Assocition and the Vermont Blueprint for Health.
