Secretary of State Jim Condos announces that Vermont’s Elections Division will be conducting a random audit of vote tabulator results for the 2012 general election.
What: Random audit of vote tabulator results
When: Beginning at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012
Where: Noble Lounge, Vermont College of Fine Arts, Montpelier, VT
“Voting is one of the most important responsibilities and privileges that comes with being a citizen. Ensuring that the election process is both honest and accurate is as important as voting itself,” stated Secretary Condos.
Results of the races for United States Representative and Vermont State Treasurer from the towns of Barre Town, Brandon, Essex (8-1), and Newfane will be audited by having volunteer election officials hand count the vote totals for the two contests to compare to the results reported using the vote tabulators on Election Day.
Condos further stated, “Conducting the random audit of vote tabulator results is an integral part of performing checks and balances of our voting system and as Vermont’s Chief Election Officer, I take this duty very seriously.”
