Game Cooking Seminar Returning to Sportsman’s Classic

If you are more successful in the field than in the kitchen, join the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department at the 21st Annual Yankee Sportsman's Classic in Essex Junction this Saturday.

Fish & Wildlife is sponsoring a cooking seminar at the classic to highlight the significance of game meat to Vermont’s rural heritage and the importance of game care in responsible hunting and fishing. Led by Chef Jimmy Kennedy, the seminar will focus on simple, yet elegant venison, waterfowl and fish recipes. The grill fires up on Saturday, the 19th at 3:00 p.m.

“Game is healthy and delicious,” said Hunter Education Coordinator Chris Saunders. “But the road to a delicious meal demands careful processing and preparation. We are thrilled to have a professional chef who has a working knowledge of wild game from Vermont.”

Chef Jimmy is the author of The River Run Cookbook: Southern Comfort from Vermont and spokesman and celebrity chef for Cabot Cooperative Creamery. However, his passion for game extends far past the kitchen. He is a life-long hunter and angler, a former Congressional Liaison to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, a Let’s Go Fishing Instructor, a professional bass fisherman on the BASS and FLW circuits, and a co-host of the “Lakes Region Fishing” TV show.

This seminar is always very popular, so if you want a seat (and samples), be ready when the doors open at 3:00 p.m.
