Transportation Board Issues Legislative Report

The Vermont Transportation Board on Thursday presented its 2012 Legislative Report to the House and Senate Transportation Committees. The report can be accessed via the Board’s website at http://tboard.vermont.gov.

The Board in October and November held six public hearings at various locations around the State and took comment via its website. More than 200 Vermonters weighed in and commented about key transportation-related issues that face the State of Vermont. The report documents what these Vermonters had to say.

Prior to the hearings, the Board identified six “hot” topics on which it asked for public input. The topics, which were discussed in detail at each public hearing, included:

• Transportation Revenues

• Bike & Pedestrian Issues

• The Future of Passenger Railroad & Inter-City Bus Services

• Climate Change – Resilience & Adaptation of the Transportation Network

• VTrans’ Accelerated Bridge Program

• Roadway Safety

The report not only broaches these topics in detail, but also documents suggestions and concerns regarding other transportation-related topics such as public transportation and pavement condition.

For more detail, please contact the Board’s executive secretary, John Zicconi, at john.zicconi@state.vt.us or by calling 802-828-2942.
